With two new slogans including RSS free India and Alcohol free society, Janata Dal on Friday started membership drive in Kashmir.Addressing a news conference here at Lala Rukh, Afaque Ahmad General Secretary of Janata Dal said that the state dispensation should impose ban on Alcohol in the state so that the society could become an evil free. Khan said that the party’s focus will remain on two things including Alcohol and RSS. “We know that the things we have singled out are not too easy to tackle with. But we have started a mission in this regard for the well-being of people,” he said.He said that they have started membership drive in the Valley while in Jammu region; the membership will be kick-started on from June 28th.

Khan said that the membership drive was started on June 5 across India while keeping view the holy month of Ramadhan, the process was delayed in the state. “It was National President, Nitish Kumar, who started the membership drive across the nation on June 5. He chose the date as the date is valuable in the political history of India,” he said.He said that there focus will be on joining more and more people in it.Meanwhile, the party has nominated G.M.Shah (Shaheen) as the state chairman of the membership drive and he was the first person to fill the form for membership with Janta Dal (United).
