Rs 5 cr spent on construction of 200-beded hospital: Bali Bhagat

Minister for Health and Medical Education, Mr. Bali Bhagat today informed the House that construction work of 200-beded hospital building at Kurbathang, Kargil is under execution at an estimated cost of Rs. 45.15 crore under Special Task Force Programme for development of Jammu and Ladakh region. He said Rs. 5 crore have been utilized for construction of this hospital till date. The Minister said that the Department is exploring every possibility to fill up the vacant posts of doctors by way of referring these posts to PSC for making fast track selections. He said as and when the selection list is received the vacant posts of doctors would be filled up in the hospitals of Kargil. He said, however, due to the non-availability of doctors at district level, the doctors are being hired at the state levels so as to fill up the vacant posts of doctors in far-flung areas including Kargil district from the division/state merit.The Minister said with a view to empower the doctors and para-medical staff with various skills for providing maternal and child health care services, different training programmes are being organized under NHM at district / state level and outside the state as well.

The Minister said that 72 medical officers (MBBS/AYUSH) and 24 para medics hailing from Kargil district have been trained in various skills till date. He said out of 72 medical officers, one medical officer has undergone one year post graduate diploma in Public Health Management from National Institute of Health and Family Welfare New Delhi.The Minister said that Rs. 12.01 crore has been released for upgradation of health infrastructure to Kargil district during 2013-14. He said an amount of Rs. 65 lakh has been proposed in the State Programme Implementation Plan, 2016-17 as operational cost of Central Heating System of various health institutions in district Kargil.
