SRTC service from Railway Station Khannabal to Kulgam under consideration: Sajad Gani Lone

Minister for Social Welfare, Mr. Sajjad Gani Lone on behalf of Transport Minister today informed the House that plying of mini SRTC buses from Railway Station Khannabal to Kulgam is under consideration of the Corporation adding that the matter has already been taken up with the concerned Railway Authorities for allotting parking facilities at Khannabal Railway Station.Replying to a question by Mr. M. Y. Tarigami, the Minister said that it is prime responsibility of JKSRTC to provide hassle free transport facilities to the hilly and far-flung areas but due to inadequate fleet position the demand of the public is not catered / fulfilled in one go.The Minister, however, said as and when the fleet strength of the Corporation improves, measures will be taken to operate bus services on these routes as well.

The Minister said that the Corporation has already submitted the utilization certificates in respect of the fleet purchased under CSS, JnNURM well in time to the Housing and Urban Development Department.The Minister said that the computerized driving licenses are being issued by all licensing authorities in all the districts including the districts of Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri and Poonch only after he/she qualifies the driving test successfully. He said no agents are recognized for issuance of driving licenses in the state. He said that the Department is issuing computerized driving licenses since 2006 onwards in all districts.
