Repeated written requests had been made to the Prime Minister to make adequate budgetary provision for Zila Parishads and Panchayat Samitis, but no satisfactory reply had been received by the Central Government in this regard stated Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh after he laid foundation stone of Zila Parishad Bhawan at Chalaunthi near Sanjauli, to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 12 crore, today.Addressing the gathering, he said that  in case no funds are provided by the Union Government, the State Government will definitely pool out the funds from its own resources for financial assistance to such bodies. The Chief Minister directed the concerned department to complete the work of the building by June next year and also directed to work on it round the clock in three shifts.

Earlier, Chairperson Zila Parishad, Smt. Dharmila Harnot and Vice-Chairman, Zila Parishad, Shri Surinder Retka welcomed and honoured the Chief Minister and other dignitaries present on the occasion.Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister, Shri Anil Sharma, MLAs Shri Anirudh Singh and Shri Mohan Lal Brakta, DCC President, Shri Kehar Singh Khachi, Chairman, State Marketing Agricultural Board, Shri Subhash Manglet, Chairperson, Child Welfare Council, Smt. Raj Kumari Soni, Vice-Chairman HIMUDA,  Shri Yashwant Chajta, Vice-Chairman, HPTDC, Shri Harish Janartha, Member, HPSIDC, Shri P.K. Sharma, Special Secretary, Panchayati Raj, Shri Abhishekh Jain, Deputy Commissioner, Shri Rohan Thakur, Councillors and other members of Zila Parishad  were also present on the occasion amongst others.
