Talented youth are becoming new stakeholders of state

Education sector witnessing huge change: Naeem Akhtar

Minister of Education, Mr Naeem Akhtar today said that youth of Kashmir have come of age and are succeeding by breaking all barriers to secure top positions in every competitive field.The Minister was speaking at a seminar where civil services toppers were also facilitated. The Minister said that in today’s world the only passport or visa one needs to achieve success is the competence of youth. “If you are competent enough, then no force in world can stop you from achieving the heights of success,” said Akhtar. “Our country of 1.2 billion people provides immense potentials for youths. Dr Shah Faesal by topping UPSC has already shown the way and it has had a huge effect on others.”

The Minister said that during the last five years around 50 youth from Jammu and Kashmir have cracked UPSC exams. He said that in other exams too, the local youth have shown their talent.The Minister recounted number of examples where youth have achieved milestones. “A 17 year girl has bagged an international scholarship and a boy from Kargil has been offered seat by all the top management institutes in the country. Then there are start ups and other success stories,” said Akhtar. “These are the people that are taking our state to the next level.”

With regard to change in education sector, the Minister said that the state is witnessing a huge change by quality intervention at every level. “We spent Rs 40,000 crore on education during the last ten years with little returns. Now we are making every penny count as we are spending it in a way that it becomes the fruitful investment into the future,” said Akhtar.The Minister said that the new talent in the shape of young boys and girls emerging are becoming important stakeholders, which signifies that the future is bright for Jammu and Kashmir.
