Governor releases “Laws and the Doctors”

At a function held at the Raj Bhavan here today Governor N.N. Vohra released “Laws and the Doctors” which is written by Dr. Abdul Majid Siraj, a highly qualified surgeon, who served in UK for several decades. The author has devoted this book to enhance better understanding of the law and ethics involved in the work of medical practitioners. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Siraj  spoke about the contents of the book and the circumstances and events which led him to write on this subject. 

He highlighted the need for doctors to be adequately aware of the laws which deal with their profession. Several doctors who were present on the occasion also shared their experiences and the challenges which they encountered while discharging their duties. The Governor congratulated Dr. Siraj for writing a book on an important theme, relevant to the medical profession and hoped that it would be seriously read by practitioners in both the governmental and the private sectors. He also stressed the need for various measures being taken to ensure that the entire medical care system, particularly the units at the grass root level are more sensitive and accountable.
