CEO Punjab has suspended Sikandar Singh SHO Bareta and Raghvinder Singh has been posted in his place. Disclosing this here today,  Mrs. Usha Sharma Special Chief Electoral Officer Punjab, said that the department has also transferred SHO Rama, Gamdoor Singh and posted Inspector Kuldeep Singh in his place, SHO(city) Malout,  Harinder Singh has been transferred  and Sub-Inspector Jugraj Singh has been posted in Malout, Sub-Inspector Rajinder Pal Singh has replaced  Gursewak Singh SHO Kabarwala Muktsar who has been transferred.

Revealing more on transfers of the Local Bodies Department, she said that Gurmeet Singh, XEN, Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board Gurdaspur, has been transferred to Chandigarh following a complaint and Daleep Kumar has been sent in his place. Devinder Pal Singh SDO Amritsar has replaced Harpreet Singh SDO who has been transferred from Batala to Chandigarh. Referring to the newspaper reports mentioning IAS officer KJS Cheema’s open involvement with a political party, she said a report has been sought from the Chief Secretary in this regard.  

Adding further, Mrs. Sharma said that the state election department was fully geared up to hold free, fair and violence free elections in the state. “We will be more vigilant in the coming days to ensure the check the flow of liquor, drugs or any other such item which can sway the voters and influence them, in Punjab”, said Mrs. Sharma. She also said that unaccounted cash worth Rs.30, 64, 93,076 has been referred to the IT Department. Other things such as Poppy husk-2300 Kg., illicit liquor-79, 70, 46,818 ml. country wine bottles- 360825, opium- 10489 gms., heroine-6357 gms. smack- 1857gms., Lahan-63144 kg. have also been seized so far from different places in the state. Besides that, 197345 licensed arms have been got deposited and 59 unlicensed arms and 250 ammunition/cartridges have been seized. As many as 8865 non-bailable warrants have been executed and 6138 persons bound down under sections107 /116. The commission has received 2400 complaints of violations of model code of conduct out of which 1510 have been resolved.
