The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has ridiculed PPCC chief Capt Amarinder Singh for his claim of solving Punjab problems in 100 days of taking over as Chief Minister of the state.BJP National Secretary Tarun Chugh today said, had Capt Amarinder done something worthwhile for the people of Punjab in 1800 days he ruled Punjab, people of the state would not have taught him a lesson by handing over consecutive defeats. He said Amarinder, who never shed his royal ways, was still behaving like a ‘Maharaja’ and has a routine of working just from eleven to five and not beyond that.  Recalling Amarinder’s days as Chief Minister of Punjab, Chugh said that senior Congress leaders along with 40 Congress MLAs of the party had camped at Delhi opposite 10 Janpath and AICC office to demand his removal as he didn’t spare time to meet his ministers, MLAs and party leaders.“Amarinder needs to tell his party high-command, his party colleagues and cadres and more importantly to the public of the state, as to what changes he has brought about in his style of working.

He should understand that neither his party top brass nor party leaders and cadres trust him anymore,” Chugh said, adding that people of Punjab won’t fall into his trap this time too and will hand over a defeat to him for the third time. The BJP National Secretary said, people of Amritsar also fell into his trap when he said that he would voice their demands in the parliament, but after winning the parliamentary elections and even after being elevated as deputy leader of Congress party in Lok Sabha he didn’t raise any issue pertaining to Amritsar in Lok Sabha. He rather chose not to attend Lok Sabha and decided to fight with his own party leaders to grab the post of PPCC president.  "He betrayed the voters of the holy city by turning his back to the promises he made at the altar of Golden Temple and Durgiana Mandir," Chugh said. The BJP leader said that immediately after his election as Amritsar MP, Amarinder had made it clear that his wish was to be the Chief Minister of the state and he had fought parliamentary election only to please Sonia and Rahul Gandhi and to serve the interests of the Gandhi family.Terming Amarinder as an opportunist to the core and a leader bereft of ideology, Chugh said despite being from a royal family he was resorting to sycophancy just to fulfill his greed of becoming a Chief Minister once again.Even as he is himself on record having said that this would be his last political battle, he should read the writing on the wall and better understand that his political career was all set to end with a third consecutive defeat.
