DC asks officers to involve people in maintaining peace

The Deputy Commissioner, Jammu convened a meeting with all the Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars and BDOs of Jammu district today in connection with the recent disrespectful incidents at two prominent temples in Jammu district.The SDMs and Tehsildars were directed to conduct a survey of all prominent religious places in their jurisdictions so that a strategy can be formulated for security arrangements at the places. They were further asked to hold meetings with the committees of such religious institutions in order to put in place local mechanism of providing security to these institutions, wherever feasible and in order to seek the assistance of committees in securing communal harmony.Meanwhile, the BDOs were asked to constitute Peace committees in all the rural areas with the involvement of Panchayati Raj institutions and ensure that the communal harmony is maintained in the district.
