Chander Parkash Ganga reviews measures for flood protection, area development in Samba

Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga  today chaired a meeting for taking up emergency works in floods affected Ramgarh area of district Samba.Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Mr. Sham Choudhary was also present in the meeting.Villages like Khamour, Nanga, Barota and Rangoor in Ramgarh area of Samba are affected by floods every year. He said that for immediate relief from recurring floods, construction of Chajwal bund on Basantar River is to be taken up on a priority basis.The Minister was informed that a project worth rupees 49 Cr has also been forwarded to the Union Ministry of Water Resources in this regard.The Minister directed the officers to immediately initiate construction of bund on Basantar river in the wake of impending monsoon to protect the villages in Ramgarh belt and forward post of BSF from the damages of recurring floods. He also intended for convergence of various departments for carrying out construction works and making available   manpower under MGNREGA to complete the project at the earliest.

Other concerns discussed in the meeting included clearing of previous year’s liabilities, electric connectivity, distribution of rations to families affected by floods in 2013,2014 and 2015, protection of SIDCO Complex, Samba and overall supervision for time bound completion of works.Commissioner Secretary Power Development Department, Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce, Secretary PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Secretary Rural Development, Secretary CAPD, Deputy Commissioner Samba, DIG Border Security Force, Assistant Commissioner (Dev.) Samba, Executive Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control Samba, Executive Engineer, Power Development Department Vijaypur were also  present in the meeting.
