The President Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Inc) Mushtaq Ahmad Wani has called the statement of Chander Prakash Ganga, the Minister for Industries J&K that the government is continuing with the Industrial Policy approved and announced during the Governors rule in March 2015 baffling. In a statement to KNS, KCCI said that the statement thus made reads contradiction to the earlier statement made by the government Spokesman Naeem Akhtar on the said Policy wherein he had in plain terms said the policy has been kept on hold until the questionable portion of the same was looked into and set right. The Chamber feels again astounded more because the Chief Minister has assured the Chamber delegation in a meeting held with her recently that the Industrial Policy shall be re-examined before the same is formally implemented.

But the somersault express in the statement of the Industries Minister belies both government Spokesman as also the Chief Minister on the issue which is confusing and irksome.

The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry has termed the incorporation of Clause 2.11.2 which allows non-State Subjects free access to land and other provisions, viewed not favorable or inconsistent, of the State Industrial Policy mischievous. The Chamber has therefore decided to continue to oppose the Industrial Policy which is ambiguous and viewed otherwise detrimental to the special status of the State and would urge the Government to revisit the policy and rectify the defects which cast shadow on the constitutional position of the state under the Article 370 of Constitution of India, in manner that it does not prove in any way detrimental to the peace and stability of our fragile State.
