Nawa Gabra bridge coming up at Rs 1.20 cr under BPP: Abdul Haq Khan

Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law & Justice, Abdul Haq, today said Nawa Gabra bridge on Nallah Harden has been taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 1.20 cores.While replying on behalf of Minister in-charge R&B Department to a Calling Attention Notice of Javed Ahmed Mirchal in the House, the Minister said that construction of 1 X 10 metre span bridge at Mudiyan on nallah Harden, Nawa Gabra has been taken-up in hand at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.20 crore lacs under Bad Pocket Programme (BPP) being administered by District Development Commissioner, Kupwara.He said that an expenditure of Rs. 50.05 lakh has been incurred till ending March 2015 and the foundation part of the sub- structure of the bridge has been completed.The Minister said that as many as 21 works were included in the Bad Pocket initiative in the Karnah Sub Division with a balance cost of Rs 2.22 crore, which includes bridge at Mudiyan as well. He said during 2015-16,  an amount of Rs. 47.50 lacs was available to the District under the said scheme and due to poor funding, most of the projects taken up under the said programme got delayed.He said that in view of the importance of the said bridge, the Department will explore the possibility of getting the bridge completed expeditiously by arranging funds under some other programme, so that the pace of the work is accelerated and bridge is completed as early as possible.
