Rs 71.27 lakh spent on augmenting power supply in Kangan: Naeem Akhtar

Minister for Education, Mr. Naeem Akhter today informed the House that Rs. 71.27 lakhs have been spent during the last year on HT/LT improvement scheme in Kangan constituency.Replying to a question by Mr. Mian Altaf Ahmed, the Minister said that Rs. 29.50 lakh were spent on 17 works on HT/LT improvement in 2014-15. "Similarly, in 2015-16, Rs. 41.77 lakh were spent on HT/LT improvement in Kangan constituency," he said.Responding to a question about progress achieved in the augmentation of works sanctioned under CDF, the Minister said the delay caused in augmentation of 16KVA to 63 KVA Sub-station at Syed Patti Yarmuquam was due to non-availability of sufficient funds. As against the estimated cost of Rs. 2 lakh for augmentation of two distribution transformers, only Rs. 1.50 lakhs were provided by the MLA.Responding to the supplementaries by Mr. Dina Nath Bhagat, Mr. Altaf Ahmed Wani, Mr. Aijaz Ahmed Mir and Mr. Ishfaq Jabbar Sheikh, the Minister said that once the funds sanctioned under CDF are released by the Members for augmentation of power infrastructure in their constituencies, the PDD department is exclusively responsible for taking up the works
