Ensure availability of ration, fuel in Gurez: Nazir Ahmad Gurezi

Deputy Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Nazir Ahmad Gurezi today directed the officers of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Department to ensure availability of ration in Gurez Constituency. He also asked the Indian Oil Corporation to establish Petrol Pumps at Gurez, Matrigam and Drass, Kargil to ensure availability of Petrol and Diesel in these far- off areas of state.These instructions were given by the Deputy Speaker today in a meeting convened to review and discuss the supply and stock position of ration and availability of Petrol and Diesel in Gurez Constituency.Mr. Gurezi called for providing ration at the rate of 13 kgs per head per month as the people of Gurez don’t have agricultural land and the area remains under snow for about six months.

It was informed in the meeting that sufficient stock of ration is available in Tehsil Gurez and recently 450 quintals of ration were supplied to Gurez for its distribution among the consumers..It was informed in the meeting that the feasibility report for establishment of Petrol Pumps in Gurez has been prepared and now land is required for the purpose. Detailed deliberations were also held with regard to landline and mobile services in Gurez and the Deputy Speaker directed the concerned to conduct survey in Gurez area and install BSNL and Airtel Towers to ensure hassle-free landline and mobile services to the consumers of the area.The meeting was attended by the Secretary, CA&PD, State Level Coordinator, representatives of Indian Oil Corporation, General Manager, BSNL, Deputy General Manager Mobiles, BSNL and other officers of CA &PD department and other officers of BSNL and Airtel.
