Day before Punjab visit, AAP asks Rahul Gandhi to come clean on drug issue

A day before upcoming Punjab visit of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday asked him to come clean on drug issue in state. Addressing the media, AAP Punjab Incharge, Sanjay Singh and Punjab Convener, Sucha Singh Chhotepur said that Congress has no right to speak on drug issue as its own leaders are facing charges of indulging into drug trade.Sanjay said that congress initially started drug menace in Punjab followed by Akalis and BJP. Rahul should not try to befool the people of Punjab as they know the reality of Congress. He asked why Congress didn’t take any action Chaudhry Santokh Singh after he was summoned by ED in drug case. “How would Rahul feel when Chaudhry alongwith him raise slogans on the issue of drugs tomorrow?

Sanjay said that what stopped Rahul or Sonia to even inquire the allegation labeled on then PPCC Chief Partap Bajwa by his own party man Captain Amrinder Singh. Amrinder had written a letter to Sonia Gandhi to sack Bajwa from the post of PPCC Chief and take action against him for his alleged relation with drug paddlers and militants. “Why after knowing all this Bajwa was awarded with Rajya Sabha seat?” asked Sanjay.Sanjay said that every Punjabi want to know the reason of doing nothing against drug paddlers in Punjab even after former Chief Election Commissioner, DR. S.Y. Quraishi writing a letter to Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh about drugs seized during the election campaign in Punjab in 2012.Chhotepur said that morally Congress has no right to talk about the issue and befool the people of Punjab as in drug trade their leaders are no less than Akalis and BJP. 

He asked Rahul to abstain for organizing drama on the issue of Drug. He said that Rahul knows the statistics about drug in Punajb but when it comes to his men he ignores it.Chhotepur said that how can we expect that Congress can cure drug problem in Punjab when its own leaders in presence of Captain Amrinder Singh talks about opening opium and poppy vends after coming into power in Punjab. Interestingly, Congress former minister Gurchet Bhullar and his son Sukhpal Bhullar during a public address promised people to legalize poppy and opium in Punjab. He also asked the reason behind Amrinder opposing CBI inquiry against Bikram Majithia in drug case.Senior AAP leaders Himmat Singh Shergill, Kanwar Sandhu, Yamini Gomar, Gurbinder Singh Kang, Kultar Singh, Jagtar Singh Sanghera, Jasbir Singh Bir, Boota Singh Ashant and Karanveer Singh Tiwana were also present during the press conference.
