NERP-2016 training programme held at Degree College Shopian

To update the electoral rolls by removing all errors and inaccuracies, a daylong training programme for Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant EROs, Supervisors and Booth Level Officers of 35-Wachi and 36-Shopian assembly constituencies was organized by the District Election Officer, Mr. G M Dar at Govt. Degree College Shopian.The training was provided by State Level Master Trainer(SLMT) for Election Commission of India’s NERP-2016 programme, Dr. Syed Mutahar Aaqib. While speaking on the occasion, SLMT deliberated upon the methodology for improving the health of electoral rolls and standardization and optimization of polling stations.While interacting with the participants, the District Election Officer stressed upon the importance of purified electoral rolls in bringing transparency in the election process. He directed the EROs, AEROs and BLOs to cooperate in identifying and demarcating the boundaries of polling stations and for the creation of digitized GIS-based PS maps (Nazri Naksha).NERP-2016 drive is launched by ECI from 1st march to 31th August 2016.
