Mohammad Akbar Lone chairs House Committee meeting to discuss SRO 105

A meeting of the House Committee constituted to examine the provisions of SRO 105 was held under the Chairmanship of MLA Mr. Mohammad Akbar Lone here today. Hakim Mohammad Yasin, M. Y. Tarigami, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Choudhary Sukhnadan Kumar, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Javid Ahmad Rana, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Javaid Hassan Beig, Bashir Ahmad Dar and Rajiv Jasrotia attended the meeting and gave their suggestions for recommending the House Committee Report. Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Shailendra Kumar, Director Geology and Mining Farooq Ahmad Khan and Senior Officers of Assembly Secretariat were also present in the meeting.

Earlier, the Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce, and Director Geology and Mining briefed the meeting about the SRO 105.The Commissioner Secretary informed the members of the Committee that prior to the issuance of SRO 105, the Royalty Collection Contacts for different minor mineral blocks of the State were awarded to successful bidders (State Subjects only) through the process of tendering. He also said that in pursuance to the Jammu and Kashmir Minor Mineral Concession, Storage, Transportation of Minerals and Prevention of Illegal Mining Rules, 2016, auction process has been initiated in the month of April, 2016 in which no non-State subject participated. However, the auction notice and process has been stayed by the High Court.The Chairman directed the Industries and Commerce department not to disturb the existing prevalent system.
