Dr. Nirmal Singh reviews Kheer Bhawani mela arrangements

Directs for putting in place mechanism for smooth conduct of mela

Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh today directed the officers to put in place the necessary mechanism and  synergize their efforts for smooth conduct of Kheer Bhawani mela and related religious ceremonies which are to be celebrated in the ensuing week.The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at a review meeting convened to discuss the arrangements to be put in place for the celebration of Kheer Bhawani mela which begins from 12th June.Legislators, Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, Yasir Reshi, Surinder Mohan Ambardar and Khalid Jehangir, besides Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, Tariq Ganai, Superintendent of Police, Ganderbal and senior officers of district administration were present.The Deputy Chief Minister directed the district administration to ensure that the necessary and proper arrangements are put in place for the devotees coming across from different parts of the state so that they do  not face any inconvenience.

He said that  coordinated efforts from different sectoral officers is essential to put in place a fool-proof mechanism. “We should all coordinate our efforts to ensure successful completion of the event, as it holds a great place in our socio religious ethos”, he added.While reviewing the arrangements for annual Kheer Bhawani mela, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the district administration to ensure that un-interrupted supply of power, water and essential items are provided to the devotees. He said adequate number of blankets should also be kept in place for those staying overnight and the requisite sanitation measures should also be undertaken.Dr. Singh while reviewing the healthcare facilities was told that a 24-bedded mobile hospital would be put in place besides three ambulances would also be put in service, for providing the requisite medical facilities to the devotees. 

He said all the necessary life savings drugs should also be kept available during the festival days.It was given out in the meeting that an alternative accommodation would also be kept available to the devotees, in case of the inclement weather and for this purpose several school buildings, within the shrine premises would be kept available. Besides it was also told that the 90% work on sewerage treatment plant has been completed and the rest would be completed soon.The Deputy Chief Minister directed the police authorities to put in place adequate security arrangements, besides ensuring the smooth regulation of traffic coming from different parts of the valley to the shrine. He said that the necessary parking spots should also be identified for the devotees.Later, the Deputy Chief Minister accompanied by Ms. Mamta Singh paid obeisance at the shrine and prayed for the wellbeing of the State.
