Govt directs DCs to verify complaints over BPL, AAY: Abdul Haq

Minister for Rural Development, Abdul Haq, today said the Government has directed all the Deputy Commissioners to verify the complaints pertaining to BPL and AAY to ensure that genuine rationees are considered for getting ration under PHH category of NFSA.Replying to the supplementaries of some members to the main question of Kamal Verma, the Minister said that any official found involved in enlisting ingenuine entries would be dealt with strictly under law.Abdul Haq said that the State has implemented National Food Security Act (NFSA) with effect from February 2016, wherein only PHH, NPHH and Exclusion categories have been identified. He said the erstwhile BPL and AAY have been merged in PHH. He said under PHH category ration holders are being provided food grains at highly subsidized rate of Rs 3 and Rs 2 for rice and wheat respectively.

The Minister said that criteria for the inclusion of households under PHH category are AAY and BPL lists, households having meager monthly income, houseless and landless, widows, orphans, destitute, militancy and violence affected families of low income, leprosy patients and domestic housemaids, besides weaker sections, nomadic families, old age pension holders, specially-abled/physically handicapped, inhabitants having Kacha houses, displaced families, labourers and workers, slum dwellers and any other deserving families identified by competent authority.Hakeem Muhammad Yasin, GM Saroori, Yawar Ahmad Mir and Vikar Rasool raised supplementaries to the main question.
