Punjab SC Commission Directs Dgse To Frame Rules Regarding Admission Of Sc & Economically Weaker Students

The Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission has directed the Director General School Education (D.G.S.E.), Punjab to frame rules & regulations governing the admission of students belonging to SC and economically weaker sections on minimum 25 percent seats in Un-aided private schools of the state.Disclosing this, Chairman of the commission Rajesh Bagha said that the commission had received a complaint from the Dr. Ambedkar Bhalai Manch (Regd.) Kharar, District- Mohali concerning non-admittance of students belonging to SC and economically weaker sections by Un-aided private schools on minimum 25 percent seats. He said that the commission had sought a report from the Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Punjab, which was given a consideration during hearing.Mr. Bagha further said that keeping in view the interests & rights of SC and economically weaker category students, the commission has directed DGSE, Punjab, to ensure that SC & students hailing from economically poor households are admitted to the 25 percent seats in the Un-aided private schools of the state. The commission has fixed August 2, 2016 as the next date for hearing.
