Mirpur university confers doctors degree on Syed Ali Shah Geelani

‘Educational institution has encouraged whole Kashmiri nation’

The Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST) conferred a doctorate degree on Qaid Tehreek-e-Kashmir and Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani for his uncompromising role and matchless contribution in the ongoing freedom struggle of Kashmir. The announcement in this regard was made in a two-day international seminar on Kashmir organised by the University in Islamabad and was announced by the President Azad Jammu & Kashmir Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan. In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar said that a recorded video message of Syed Ali Geelani was also played in the said seminar organised by the MUST in which he elaborated the serious human and social issues in Kashmir due to the lingering of the issue. In the video message, Syed Ali Geelani said that the military occupation of India in Kashmir has no moral or constitutional justification and this country is not fulfilling its promises made with the Kashmiri people on both national and international levels and in which India had guaranteed right to self determination for the people. 

While demanding a Scotland type referendum process in Jammu & Kashmir, Syed Ali Geelani said that until the Kashmiri people are given a free and fair chance to decide their future, the Kashmir will remain a dispute till then and the political uncertainty and instability prevailing in the entire South Asian region will continue to hunt the peace efforts. Syed Ali Geelani thanked the people, Government and the establishment of the Pakistan for supporting the Kashmir cause on every level and said that the Kashmir policy of Pakistan needs consistency so that the rigid and stubbornness of India will get exposed before the international community.Syed Ali Geelani in his address appealed the world community to take serious notice of the war crimes and grave human rights violations committed by the Indian armed forces in Jammu & Kashmir and play their role in the peaceful and durable resolution of the Kashmir dispute in and accordance to the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.Meanwhile Hurriyat (G) spokesman expressed his happiness over the conferring of doctorate degree on Syed Ali Geelani by the Mirpur University and said that the educational Institution has encouraged the whole Kashmiri nation by acknowledging the tireless services of Syed Ali Geelani for the Kashmir cause and his work as an author of about 50 books written on different topics and for which we are very thankful to this institution.
