3 ST inhabited Kulgam villages to be developed on modern lines

The District Development Commissioner Kulgam today convened a meeting of officers to discuss the formulation of Schedule Tribe Plan and development of three ST inhabited villages of the district into Model Villages.It was given that village, Waltengoo of Devsar Constituency and villages Brean Lamad and Halan Manzgam of Noorabad constituency, having ST population of 60 percent will be developed as Model villages.The DDC said that an amount of Rs. 5 crore will be utilized on the construction of these three model villages out of which Rs. One crore will be provided by ST department and the rest will be provided from MGNREGA convergence in collaboration with Social Welfare department, Youth Services and Sports, PHE and Education department for construction of basic facilities including construction of common facilitation centre, rural information centre, playground, lanes, drains and construction of anganwadi centers.The DDC instructed ACD Kulgam to prepare a detailed project report of these identified villages within a month and also asked him to identify the land for the proposed constructions.On the occasion, he reviewed the progress of construction of model residential school (EKLAVYA) at Tangmarg Kulgam. He was informed that the project is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 12 crore and an amount of Rs. 3.5 crore has already been expended so far.
