Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami for comprehensive policy to develop Agriculture, allied sectors

Calls for broadening ambit of skill development initiative

MLA Kulgam Mr. M Y Tarigami while participating in the Discussion on General budget (2016-17) today said that the state has rich potential in animal and sheep husbandry, sericulture, horticulture and other sectors, but there is a lack of concrete input policy in this regard.He said that the development of these sectors can improve the economic condition of the people and hence government needs to devise a comprehensive policy.  He said that there is no mention of saffron crop in the budget and demanded that steps should be taken for its proper marketing and promotion.Mr. Tarigami said that there are 12 lakh unemployed educated youth in the state and the development of agriculture and its allied sectors can greatly reduce the unemployment in the state.He pleaded for broadening the ambit of the skill development initiative so that more youth can be imparted with the skills of various trades which would inturn create the avenues of employability, consequently resulting in the socio-economic development of the state. The legislator stated that there is no substantial relief for widows, specially-abled persons and other weaker section of the society in the budget and same needs to be taken care of.Mr. Tarigami also appreciated the government for Journalist Welfare Fund and demanded for early establishment of Press Colony in Srinagar.
