CGM NABARD calls on Governor

Mr. Vijay Kumar, Chief General Manager, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), J&K Regional Office, Jammu, called on Governor N. N. Vohra, at the Raj Bhavan, here today. Mr. Kumar briefed the Governor about the ongoing activities of NABARD in Jammu and Kashmir and the sources which are available for various rural infrastructure development schemes, particularly rural road connectivity, construction of bridges, primary health centers and school buildings, irrigation and flood control sectors which are among the thrust areas of the NABARD funding in the State.

The Governor emphasized that, keeping in view the vast potential for promotion and diversification of agriculture and allied sectors, which exists in J&K, there is urgent need for the Agriculture and Rural Development Departments to take time bound initiatives, along with all other stakeholders, to avail of all available resources to boost the development of these sectors which shall, in turn, promote the economy and generate employment avenues in the State.
