Kashmir vs Jammu:Disparity in pay scale annoys PHE employees

A day after protesting against the alleged regional disparity, the permanent civil and mechanical employees of PHE from Kashmir Tuesday declared that they will start an agitation against the negative rule of higher authorities in failing to fulfil their long pending demand of rationalization of pay scales in a revised set on the same analogy as has been done in favour of PHE Department Jammu. All Kashmir PHE Employees Federation said that they soon launch an agitation against what they said government’s biased policies towards Kashmiri employees.The Government issued an order vide number 74 of 1991 during Governor Rule where sanction to the rationalization of the pay scales in revised set up of the field staff has been accorded in favour of Jammu PHE employees alone and an additional number of 1728 technical/non-technical posts in field have been sanctioned through this said order. The interests of the employees from Kashmir region working in the same department have been violated,” the Federation Chairman GA Nath told CNS.The Federation said that despite repeatedly bringing the matter into the notice of authorities nothing was done to address the issue. “Agitation is the only tool left with us. If the government did not address our issue we will come on roads on daily basis,” the employees said.They said that some officials are reluctant to open up the file at Secretariat level for the reasons better known to them. “Why we are being ignored when our counterparts in Jammu are already reaping the benefits,” the employees questioned.
