Congress MLA from Kargil Asgar Ali Karbalie Tuesday ciritcised PDP-BJP government for “ignoring” Ladakh region from the Budget.“Ladkah region has been ignored in the Budget. No allocation of any funds has been announced for the people of the region,” Karbalie told KNS, while speaking at the Assembly complex today. He said that Ladakh region is a far flung area which remains cut off with rest of the world for six-months in a year and thus it should have been allocated “a special package” in the Budget.“We have been getting 0.1 percent of allocations from the state Budget. But given our terrain and location, the government should have allocated special package in the Budget for the whole region,” the Congress leader from the cold desert said.Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu tabled the 2016-2017 Budget in the Lower House on Monday in the ongoing session of the legislature. “The government has been talking of equitable development of the state. But when they have to take any practical step they forget their slogans. The Budget is a blow to equitable development,” Karbalaie, who was former chairman of LAHDC, said. (KNS)
