Kashmiri youth full of potential, need fostering, exposure: Syed Altaf Bukhari

Former Minister and MLA Amirakadal Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Monday said the youth of Kashmir have immense talent that needs to be fostered and accorded proper exposure in a helpful environment.Addressing a party meeting at Gangbugh (Ward Hyderpora), Bukhari said the welfare of Kashmir’s younger generation is in the special focus of the present dispensation and efforts are on to create a conciliating atmosphere in this direction. 

Besides all party ward presidents of the constituency, the meeting was attended by Mohammad Ashraf Dar, PDP Zone President Amirakadal.After taking a firsthand appraisal of the developmental works under progress in Gangbugh and its adjoining areas, Bukhari said: “The youth need to be provided proper platform, so that they are able to demonstrate their talent. There is also a dire need to provide the requisite infrastructure in different sectors, so that the talented youth of Kashmir are able to compete at state, national and international levels.”

The former minister stressed on the need to create necessary infrastructure that will enable the youth to compete at higher levels. He said that the existing stadiums and playfields in Srinagar city need to be improved and developed on modern lines.“In light of an enormous talent and the eagerness for sports sector, proper sports and recreational infrastructure needs to be established at an earliest,” he observed.The meeting agreed with the MLA Amirakadal that there has been a remarkable movement forward in terms of improvement in drainage, road macadamization, safe drinking water supply, electricity supply and solid waste management in entire Amirakadal constituency in last one year.The meeting was informed that comprehensive drainage projects have been proposed for the whole constituency especially Gangbugh and Hyderpora under central sponsored scheme AMRUT and the World Bank programmes. “In Hyderpora ward these proposed drainage projects under AMRUT and World Bank programmes will cover areas like Gangbug, Galwanpora, Shah Anwar Colony, Gul Bahar Colony, Airport Road, Rehmatabad, Jeelan Abad and Al-Fazal Colonies and Peerbagh,” Bukhari informed the meeting.Similarly he said that a long pending demand of construction of a community hall at Gangbugh has been met and is now ready to be inaugurated shortly. The Gangbugh marriage hall has been constructed at a cost of Rs 2.05 Crores, he informed.

The MLA Amirakadal said that he will allocate funds out of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for the improvement and upgradation of Eidgah Hyderpora at Jamia Masjid Hyderpora, Graveyards of Gangbug, Old Peerbagh and Wazabagh Goripora by way of earth filling and fencing.Bukhari informed the meeting that he has already taken up the repair of dilapidated road starting from Gangbugh gas agency to the Check Bund with the concerned authorities who have assured an immediate redressal of the problem. He said issues of the area pertaining to the Power Development Department have also been taken up with the Chief Engineer concerned who has assured an immediate redressal of the public grievances.Regarding Dood Ganga flood spill channel passing through Gangbugh, Bukhari said that its width has almost been doubled and the remaining portion where the excavation and widening has faced some hiccups will be addressed and completed very soon.
