Location-Based “IRAKT” Mobile App Launched Today

“IRAKT” Would Prove Beneficial For Saving Several Precious Lives : Surjit Kumar Jyani

Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Surjit Kumar Jyani today launched a mobile app named “iRakt” that would prove beneficial for finding blood donors and blood banks in the Ludhiana district. With the help of this location-based mobile app, any person would be able to locate and contact the donor of a particular blood group in the district.While speaking on the occasion, Mr Jyani said that in this fast changing world, technology is the key now and such mobile applications help the people in a big way. He said that earlier people faced several difficulties in locating a blood donor, but with the launch of “iRakt”, this issue would be checked. He urged people to use this mobile app in large numbers as it could help in saving a large number of precious lives.Deputy Commissioner Mr Ravi Bhagat stated that this mobile app can be downloaded free of cost from Google Play Store for Android users and within one week, it would be available on IOS for Iphone users as well. He informed that once the app is downloaded, one would have to register and submit details such as name, age, phone number, blood group, besides others. 

Once the person is registered, other “iRakt” app users would be able to locate him by using the same app.The DC said that as this app is location-based, it would automatically search for the nearby donors registered with “iRakt” and there would also be an option for contacting them by using either calling them or sending an SMS.This app has been designed and developed by a team led by Mr Mandeep Singh and Mr Manpreet Singh from a company named eQuasar. On the occasion, the official website of Red Cross Society (www.redcrossludhiana.com) was also launched. The Deputy Commissioner urged the residents of Ludhiana district to use this app in large numbers so that precious lives can be saved.Prominent among those present on the occasion included vice chairman, Punjab Planning Board Prof Rajinder Bhandari, BJP district President Mr Ravinder Arora, Senior BJP leader Mr Parveen Bansal, ADC (D) Miss Apneet Riyait, ADC Mr Rishi Pal Singh, SDMs Mr Paramjit Singh and Dr Richa, Assistant Commissioner (Grievances) Miss Kanu Thind, Civil Surgeon Dr Renu Chhatwal, besides several others.
