DC felicitates contributors to the DRCS

Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary who is also the Chairman of District Red Cross Society (DRCS) Udhampur honoured the officers and other members  for their generous donations and remarkable contribution towards District Red Cross Society here today.The officers and other members who were honoured during a special facilitation function organized by District Red Cross Society include Additional Deputy Commissioner, Angrez Singh Rana, Sub. Divisional Magistrate, Chenani, Devinder Sharma, Tehsildar, Udhampur,  Sapna Kotwal, Executive Engineer PHE,   Rajesh Gupta, ARTO, Rajesh Gupta, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Chander Parkash, District Treasury  Officer,  Romesh Singh, Project Director, IL&FS, Chenani – Nashri Tunnel, J.S. Rathore, Managing  Director, ACE Media, Jammu, Amit Goswami and Honorary Secretary, DRCS,  Dr. V.P. Sharma for their voluntarily  contributions above rupees fifty thousands. The contributors to the DRCS were given plaques of honour and appreciation certificates by Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary.

Addressing the well attended gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said that the basic aim to hold this facilitation function was to associates more and more people towards this noble mission by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.Dr. Shahid further informed that donations to Red Cross in the year 2015-16 increased by 400% over the previous year achievements of District Red Cross Society. He apprised that an assistance of more than Rs 35 Lakh was provided by DRSC to NOKs of dead and the victims of road accidents and more than 300 patients were also provided assistance for treatment and medicines. More than 150 orphan and BPL students were also supported by the DRSC, he added.The District Red Cross society, Udhampur has the rare distinction of having within its fold many veteran donors who have donated four times more than its set target.Chief Education Officer, Bishan Singh delivered welcome address while Project Officer DRDA, Dr. Jagdish Mehra presented vote of thanks. Proceedings of the function were conducted by Deputy Chief Warden Civil Defence Advocate S. D. Kotwal.Among others, Additional District Development Commissioner, Arvind Sharma, Joint Director Planning, Rakesh Jamwal, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Rajeev Magotra, Exn PHE, PWD, President and members of  Beopar Mandal, prominent citizens, district officers of various department, Red Cross Life Members and volunteers of Red Cross Society were also present on the occasion.
