Results of Govt’s developmental initiatives will be visible on ground soon: Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura

Minister for Agriculture,  Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura has said the new developmental initiatives taken by the present government will transform JK’s socio-economic profile and tangible results will be visible on the ground soon.“The Government headed by Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti is committed provide improved and better amenities to the people for which adequate funds are being made available in the state and the central sector,” the Minister said while addressing the District Development Board (DDB) meeting of district Ganderbal here the other day.He impressed upon all the Heads of departments and sectoral officers to ensure implementation of all the DDB decisions in letter and spirit.The Minister asked the horticulture department to identify land in the district for establishment of hi-density demonstration orchards.  He directed the PDD and PHE authorities to take immediate measures for dewatering of water-logged areas especially Burzhama and Gadoora. He also asked them to ensure all existing Pump Stations are functional.

While reviewing the progress of ongoing Water Supply Schemes, up gradation and improvement of roads, schools & hospital buildings, the Minister directed the concerned executing agencies to complete all ongoing schemes and projects within stipulated timeframe.It was decided in the meeting that a Marriage Hall would be constructed in Ganderbal Town.While taking stock of sports facilities available in the district, the Minister directed the DDC Ganderbal to identify the land at tehsil levels for development of playing fields.Taking stock of the shifting of Madri Meharban Stadium from Sport Council to Department of Youth Services and Sports, the Minister said that decision was already taken in 2011- 2012 and 2012-2013 in this regard but was not implemented. The Board strongly recommended for implementation of the decision.

The meeting was informed that under R&B sector construction and upgradation of Gadoora-Umarhair, Wheedpora and Nunner roads would be taken up during 2016-17.It was also informed that there is no space for parking and Bus Stand in the district. The Chairman asked the concerned to remove all bottlenecks, if any and take construction of Bus Stand on top priority.It was also informed that construction work on up gradation of Shuhama- Nagbal and Gansthan roads will be taken up in hand soon.The DDB approved a plan outlay of Rs 93.12 crore for the year 2016-17 for Ganderbal.Legislators, Main Altaf Ahmad, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Sheikh Ishfaq Jabar, Mr. Yasir Reshi, District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Mr. Tariq Hussain Ganai. Besides, Heads of Departments, Chief Engineer, SSP Ganderbal, Registrar Central University, sectoral and district officers, were also present in the meeting.
