Patiala Bar Association today announced its support to Capt Amarinder Singh and assured him that the entire legal community was supporting him and wanted the Congress to come back to power.

A delegation of the association led by its president Jeet Inder Singh Grewal today called upon Capt Amarinder at the New Moti Bagh Palace to declare its support.

Mr Grewal said, the lawyer fraternity was grateful to Capt Amarinder as during his previous tenure he had met several of the lawyers’ long pending demands. Besides, he had restored and ensured the dignity of the legal fraternity, he said, while adding that there was a groundswell of support in support of Congress and people of Patiala in particular felt proud to be identified with Capt Amarinder Singh.

Expressing his gratitude for their support, Capt Amarinder thanked all the members of the bar and promised that once Congress comes to power he will ensure that all their remaining demands are met. He appealed to them to spread the message among the people as only the Congress could save Punjab from the devastating position the Akali-BJP regime had pushed it towards.

Earlier members of the Punjab Saini Sabha led by its president Ajit Singh Saini met the PCC President and extended their support to the Congress. They also submitted a memorandum to Capt Amarinder seeking withdrawal of the notification issued by the Badal government by virtue of which they have been denied the Scheduled Tribe Status.
