Need to preserve rich ancient culture and traditions: Acharya Devvrat

We should preserve our ancient rich culture and traditions so that the country could again achieve the position of 'Vishva Guru', said Governor Acharya Devvrat. He was speaking in the closing ceremony of 3rd Manohar Singh Samriti Natya Samaroh at historic Gaiety Theatre, Shimla organized by the Department of Language, Art and Culture here late last evening. Governor of Uttar Pradesh Shri Ram Naik was also present on the occasion.The Governor said that it was important to impart moral values to the younger generation to maintain connection with the culture as the Indian traditions and culture were always far above 'others'. He added that we always believed the world as one family and cared for the happiness of all and this could be witnessed only in our culture.Acharya Devvrat expressed concern over the fact that many parents were compelled to live in old age homes although they had sacrificed everything for the better future of their children. He said that modern knowledge was must but we should also teach moral values to our children so that they become cultured. 

He appreciated the play 'Mera woh matlab nahi tha' written and directed by Shri Rakesh Bedi and praised the performance of Shri Anupam Kher and Ms. Neena Gupta and said that the message of the play would definitely reach to the hearts of the audience. He added that such stage act through play was not an easy task, it needed very hard work and many years of dedication. He said demonstrating the distortions of society through theatre was tough job and due to that these artists had succeeded in making a place in the hearts of the people.He congratulated Language, Art and Culture department for organizing the event. He also honoured Shri Anupam Kher, Ms. Neena Gupta and Shri Rakesh Bedi by presenting Himachali Shawl and Cap on the occasion.Earlier, Secretary, Department of Language and Culture Smt. Anuradha Thakur welcomed the Governors. Director of LAC, Smt. Shashi Thakur proposed vote of thanks.Judges of Himachal Pradesh High Court, Senior Government Officers and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
