Former Union Minister and senior congress leader, Professor Saifuddin Soz, Tuesday said that a new found situation of relief for RSS – Subramaniam Swami, perhaps, lives in a fools’ paradise that Article 370 of the constitution of India can be revoked. In a statement issued to KNS, Soz said that it is this article of the constitution of India that is the bridge for a constitutional relationship between J&K State and the Union of India.“If the (RSS – BJP) combine ever dare to take any step towards revocation of Article 370, it will mean Delhi’s power elite does not want any constitutional relationship with the J&K State,” he said.He said that at this juncture, he would like to caution the Kashmir Civil Society on two things; “one is to realize that Subramaniam Swami is not for RSS – BJP. He simply wanted his position and he got it as MP, Rajya Sabha. He may now be looking for a Ministership. So, it suits us politically to ignore Swami altogether.”

“The second thing is that, while the people of Kashmir remain conscious of RSS designs, they must decide to sink their differences and organize, gradually, a democratic and transparent movement for expression of their collective will to safeguard their constitutional and democratic rights,” Soz added. He said that his perception is that ultimately, the democratic and secular India will force RSS to respect the aspirations of the people of Kashmir for protection of Article 370 in the Constitution of India.“I would also like to stress the fact that democratic, secular and pluralistic India, which is an overwhelming majority of this country, will, surely, remain steadfast on the question of genuine, democratic and constitutional aspirations of the people of Kashmir, Soz said.”He said that he would like to remind the people of Kashmir that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with open support of RSS cadres and use of unprecedented muscle and money power, could muster only 31 per cent of votes during the last election and 69 per cent votes were polled for Non-BJP secular parties. “Today, PM Modi’s strength is dwindling, by the day,” he said.
