Minister for Cooperatives calls on Governor

Chering Dorjay, Minister for Cooperatives, called on Governor N.N Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today. The Minister was leading a delegation comprising Dr. Sonam Manchuk, lecturer, Central Institute of Buddhist Studies, Leh; Mr. Sonam Murup, Accountant, Doordarshan, Leh; and Mr. Mohammad Hasan, Announcer, All India Radio, Kargil.Mr. Dorjay apprised the Governor about various steps which had been initiated to attract educated youth to form Cooperatives and about the current implementation status of Integrated Cooperative Development Projects (ICDP) launched for the holistic development of the Cooperative Movement in the State and functioning of the Women Credit Cooperatives. Mr. Dorjay also put forth the demands of Central Government employees working in Ladakh regarding the continuation of special area allowances and stressed that these must not be withdrawan as per the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission. The Governor assured to take up this matter with the Government of India.The Governor urged Mr. Dorjay to continue sustained development of the Cooperative sector for the empowerment of the rural population.
