Top JeM militant arrested in north Kashmir, says police

The police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a top Jaish-e-Mohammad militant from their hideout in a dense forest area in Baramulla district of north Kashmir.According to a statement issued here by the police said, acting on intelligence input, 46 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police conducted a search operation at Hajibal forest area in near Old town in Baramulla.During the operation the Jaish militant, who was identified as Abdul Rehman S/O Mohammad Sadiq Khan, a resident of Pollas village in Pakistan-administered-Kashmir, and was reportedly active for the past couple of months, was arrested, the statement said."Large cache of arms and ammunitions including one AK Series rifle, 04 grenades, Wireless Set has been recovered from different hideouts on his directions, the official said, adding that an Adhar card bearing name Shabir Ahmad Khan son of Ghulam Rasool has been recovered from him", the statement said.

The militant was planning to establish the base of Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit in Baramulla town. He was operating in and around town Baramulla trying to recruit his module", the statement further said.Similar attempt  of the JeM outfit was foiled in month of February when one Pakistani militant namely Sidiq Gujjar alias Shahid S/O Jameel R/O Sialkot Pakistan along with its local module was arrested from Baramulla by Army and Police, the statement said.The militant part of a Fidayeen squad has infiltrated in the month of January this year from Machil sector. The militant has obtained training in Jaish-e-Mohammad training camp located in Balakot Pakistan, the statement said.Meanwhile, massive search operation has been launched at  many forests of Lolab in Kupwara.
