Rs. 2352 crore spent under PMGSY : Virbhadra Singh

3342 habitations provided road connectivity ,Rs. 649 crore sanctioned under PMGSY during current year

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, while reviewing the performance of   Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY), disclosed that a sum of Rs. 2352 crore had been spent  so far on completing 1975 works to connect 3342 habitations under  the Yojna since its inception in the State. He said that primary objective of PMGSY was to provide road connectivity to eligible unconnected habitations in rural areas.Shri Virbhadra Singh said that Rs. 623 crore had been spent on constructing 10 bridges, 360 roads involving a length of 1762 Kilometres and connecting 297 habitations during last three years in the State under the Yojna. He said that State Government was making every effort to provide road connectivity upto the remotest corner of the State.

He said that Rs. 649 crore had been sanctioned during current financial year for constructing 163 roads and 27 bridges in the State under PMGSY involving a length of 1165 kilometres and 870 metres respectively benefiting over 45 habitations.Chief Minister directed the PWD department to prepare DPRs so that eligible habitations were covered by year 2019. He stressed upon contacting concerned district administrations and elected representatives to motivate beneficiaries to donate land voluntarily for speedy construction of roads. New DPRs may be got approved under the Forest Conservation Act and Forest Right Act, he added.
