Appeals for organizing funeral prayers in absentia on Friday

Expressing his deep shock, sorrow and grief over the hanging of Ameer Jamaat-i-Islami Bangladesh Matti-ul-Rehman Nizami, Chairman of Hurriyat (G), Syed Ali Geelani appealed for organizing special prayers and funeral prayers in absentia for him on 13 May after the Friday congregational prayers. 

He in a statement issued to KNS said that Bangladesh has practically become a province of India and the Awami League president Sheikh Haseena on the behest of India has started a war against the Islamist people of the country.Geelani said that the leaders of Jamaat-i-Islami Bangladesh are being punished for their affection and love with Islam and Pakistan and it is moral responsibility of the government of Pakistan to raise their voice and concerns against this injustice in every possible ways and try to bring this serious issue into the notice of the organization of Islamic countries (OIC). 

Hurriyat (G) Chairman paid glowing tributes to the Ameer Jamaat-i-Islami Bangladesh Jinab Matti-ul-Rehman Nizami and said that besides being a great Islamic scholar, Shaheed Matti-ul-Rehman was also a open minded person and a prominent intellectual who had spent his entire life in the service of Islam and for the establishment of the justice based system of governance.“He lived the life of a true Muslim and died a hero’s death,” he said.Geelani expressed his hope that the sacrifice of Shaheed Matti-ul-Rehman Nizami will prove as a milestone and it will become a beginning for an Islamic revolution in Bangladesh.He said that the oppression and the atrocities do not live very long and the day is not too far when the oppressors will bear the brunt of their deeds.

On the directions of Hurriyat Chairman Syed Ali Geelani, the funeral prayers in absentia for Ameer Jamaat-i-Islami Bangladesh Jinab Matti-ul-Rehman Nizami were held at different places in the Valley.Personal Secretary to Chairman Peer Saifullah and District President for Srinagar and Ganderbal Raja Mehraj-ud-din led the funeral prayers at Hyderpora and Masjid Hamzah Lalchowk respectively while as Hurriyat leaders Altaf Ahmad Shah, Shakir Ahmad Mir, Mohammad Sayed, Mohammad Afzal Lone, Haji Rustum Bhat, Mohammad Maqbool, Abdul Hameed Magray, Ashiq Hussain Sofi, Rameez Raja and Umar Adil Dar also participated in these programs. On the occasion the speakers condemned the oppressive behavior of Bangladesh government and the people protested against these atrocities. (KNS)
