Police arrest Zaffer Akbar Bhat at Charar-e-Sharif

Police today arrested Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement Chairman Zaffer Akbar Bhat and chairman JKNPP Syed Saleem Geelani on reaching Charar-e-Sharif where they were scheduled to offer Nimaz-e-Zuhar to observe 21st anniversary of Char e Shareef shrine tragedy.In a statement issued to KNS, spokesman strongly condemned police action and termed it frustration of authorities. He said that such arbitrary tact's will not deter us from achieving right to self determination.He also strongly condemned the cordoning off Charar-e-Sharif and deployment of heavy forces around the shrine and on way to Char e Shareef.Spokesman said that forces have been deployed apparently to foil the Salvation Movement program being held after Nizam-e-zuhar to observe the 21st anniversary of Charar-e-Sharif Sharine tragedy.

Pertinently, Salvation Movement has asked people to attend Nizam-e-Zuhar on the 10th May (today) to observe the 21st anniversary of Charar-e-Sharif Sharine tragedy, Zaffer said that people of Jammu and Kashmir will never forget how Indian forces laid a siege on the shrine that continued for 75 days and desecrated the holy shrine of great saint.Various political, Social, religious and human rights group representatives Abdul Qadeer Dar(VOV) Abdul Rouf Khan(HRG) Lawyers club(Adv Baber Qadri),Traders federation ,Sajad Gul, Musadiq Mehraj (KFM),Pasban Kashmir (Mehraj u din), Mushtaq Ahmed (Shababul Muslimeen) Zahoor Ahmed (Fourm for Justs)were stopped on way to chrar e sharief and were not allowed to proceed,

Spokesman in a statement while lashing at authorities said that the activists and workers affiliated with Salvation Movement were barred from offering the prayers and were arrested at various places on wards to Charar e Shareef shrine .Meanwhile JKSM leaders and workers held protests at Chanpora and press colony against the arrest of Bhat and others and hanging of JEI leaders in Bangladesh.While commemorating the incident and paying tributes to more than 25 martyrs ,spokesperson said that during the siege of town more than 2000 houses and equivalent number of business establishments were set ablaze and millions rupees properties was destroyed and 30,000 residents were left homeless in this brutal incident.
