Punjab Food , Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Adeish Partap Singh Kairon today underlined the need to launch a concerted campaign to educate consumers regarding their rights and duties. Addressing retirement function of State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission President S.N.Aggarwal,  Mr.Kairon said  that there was a greater need for generating  consumer awareness especially during the time of  competition in market to save the interest of common man.He said that presently many private companies misguided the consumers regarding their services, terms and conditions, which further leads to the loss of common man. He said that the Punjab Government has already constituted Punjab State Consumer Redressal Commission at State level, followed by the District Redressal Forums, where consumer can easily contact in the case of any complaint.Lauding the role played by Justice Aggarwal as a President of Commission, Kairon said that the Commission has played a key role in educating the consumers about their rights.  He said that it was the result of the efforts made by commission that 11,720 cases has been registered during the tenure of Justice Aggarwal and 10376 had been disposed off.  He said that under the able leadership of Mr. Aggarwal, three bench has also been constituted to redress the grievances of consumers. He said  that the contribution of Justice Aggarwal in strengthening the Commission  would be remembered by one and all and would also be a source of inspiration for all. The Minister also said that K.L.Garg member of the Commission would work as an executive President till the new appointment of President could be made. Prominent amongst present on the occasion included D.S.Grewal secretary of the Department, K.L.Garg, Inderjit Kaushik, Baldev Singh Sekhon, Jagroop Singh Mahal, Vinod Gupta and Jasvir Singh Gill (all  Members of the Commission).
