Target To Paste One Lac Reflective Stickers On Slow Moving Vehicles Bringing Agri-Products In Mandis

The Punjab Police through its Community Policing Wing has launched a unique campaign to paste reflective stickers on all slow moving vehicles especially tractor trolleys sans this provision to avoid accidents on the highways thereby saving precious human lives. It may be noticed that in the recent past, numbers of people have lost their lives so far due to late night collision between vehicles and tractor-trolleys on the highways.Disclosing this here today an official spokesman pointed out that it has been noticed that lack of reflectors on slow moving vehicles being used particularly in Rabi and Kharif season for bringing agri-products in state mandis results in major accidents and loss of human lives. He said that before the start of ongoing Rabi season, Punjab DGP Mr. Suresh Arora had directed the Community Policing Wing to rope in Saanjh committees constituted throughout the State to take up this noble cause with twin purposes of making these vehicles safer besides sensitizing the rural populace about the importance of required reflective stickers on their vehicles. 

The spokesman revealed that the initial target has been fixed for one lac such reflective stickers and till date 34,000 such stickers have been pasted and the campaign was going on full swing. Giving the district wise details of this initiative, the spokesman informed that maximum 4000 such reflective stickers have been pasted in Patiala district followed by 3600 each in Amritsar (City), Batala, Ferozepur, Barnala and Pathankot. Besides this, 3000 each reflective stickers have been pasted in Khanna and Bathinda districts followed by Fazilka(2200) and 1800 each by Kapurthala and Jalandhar (Rural) districts.
