Calling effective planning and adherence to set timelines key to sustainable development, Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali Monday stressed on active public partaking in the developmental process.The Minister was speaking at a meeting convened   to review    developmental scenario in Rajouri.He took a comprehensive review of the ongoing developmental works and progress achieved by various departments and directed the concerned departments to ensure effective planning and execution of works for result oriented development. He stressed upon officers to properly plan the works and execute them in timebound manner adding that concerted efforts should be made to achieve tangible results on ground so that better amenities and services are provided to the people.Minister also reviewed physical and financial achievements of the different ongoing projects and expressing concerns over the inadequate utilisation of funds, directed the officers to expedite optimal use of available funds to achieve better results.

He underscored the need for active people participation in the developmental process and directed all officers to create a people friendly working atmosphere and involve all stakeholders in sustainable development of area .Stressing on participative planning, he instructed that the plans should be chalked out catering to the area specific developmental needs in consultation with the local representatives.He asked all the district officers to reach out to the people and sensitize them about the welfare programmes implemented by the government so that they can avail maximum benefits of these schemes. He stressed for reformative and innovative steps in the sectors like agriculture, sheep husbandry, fisheries etc. as these sectors are directly related to the economy of the people.Earlier, District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed Batt gave a power point presentation regarding the sector wise expenditure incurred and achievements registered by different departments.Among others SSP Rajouri, Rajeshwar Singh, ADC Rajouri Mumtaz Choudhary, SE R&B, Majeed Wani and other senior district and sectoral officers were present in the meeting.Later, the minister visited district hospital Rajouri and enquired about the health care facilities being provided to the patients there. He also inspected the ongoing construction works and directed the concerned executing agency to ensure that the works are completed in stipulated timeframe.
