Pays surprise visit to SMHS, SSH, says won’t compromise on sanitation, dress-code

Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat on Monday asked Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, authorities to work tirelessly for improving healthcare facilities at the tertiary level.While paying a surprise visit, the Minster took round of the SMHS hospital and the Super Specialty hospital of GMC. He directed officials to provide hassle-free healthcare services to the people coming to the hospital. He also directed them to create an ‘Enquiry Centre’ at the hospital and link it to the emergency services, so that patients don’t feel any inconvenience.The Minister later took round of the hospital and directed officials to work for betterment of it. “Every hospital in the State should be linked to technology. It’s high time that we link our medicine to the technology,” Bhagat told officials while taking a review of the hospital. “If we have to strengthen our healthcare, changes are t be made from very small things, be it sanitation or small services. We all have to work in a coordinated effort,” he said.The Minister was accompanied by Secretary Health & Medical Education, Dr M K Bandari, Medical Superintendents, senior doctors, para medical staff and officers were also present.

Highlighting the importance of the sanitation in hospitals, Bhagat said that insanitary hospitals risk the lives of thousands of poor patients. “You all should treat hospitals like your own houses, so that you inculcate a sense of belonging,” he said. “This sense will give you a kick to start cleanliness drive on regular basis,” he said.He said that no compromise would be done on dress-code and sanitation in the hospitals.  He directed officials to maintain sanitation and cleanliness into the hospitals, especially emergency wards and washrooms of the healthcare institutes. He said the technology should be linked to healthcare services to the people. The Minister further directed the concerned to ensure that each hospital has digital display boards having duty roster of officers for the information of general public.The Minister also paid a surprise visit to Super Specialty Hospital and urged officials to make OPD functional properly. Bhagat also interacted with the attendants and listened to their grievance.
