Governor urges youth to serve society selflessly

Governor Acharya Devvrat urged the youth to inculcate the spirit of service for the welfare and development of the State and Country. He was speaking in the Annual Function of ‘Himgiri Ashram’ at Solan today.Governor said that our rich culture accords prime importance to selfless service of mankind and working for the betterment of others as well as society. He said that people are materialistic in present times, however, moral values should be instilled among youth especially students so that they understand the importance of social service. He said that this spirit will unite the mankind and promote brotherhood and fraternity among all.

Acharya Devvrat said that for a healthy and developed society, it is important to follow good ethics in life and lead a truthful life. This will ensure peace, harmony and development, he added.He urged the inmates of the Ashram to take inspiration from the teachings of great personalities and freedom fighters   and follow their footsteps. He lauded the efforts of the management for imparting value based education to the students. He also urged the teachers to educate them about our rich culture and traditional folk arts.He announced Rs. one lakh for the Ashram.A colourful cultural programme was presented on the occasion.Governor also honoured students and other persons for their distinguished services for the Ashram.Former Vice Chancellor, Punjab Technical University Prof. 

Rajneesh Arora detailed about the historical background and activities of the Ashram.State Secretary Shri Nihal Chand welcomed the Governor.Office bearer of the Ashram Dr. Amit Vikram proposed vote of thanks.Regional Organizing Secretary, Vanwasi Kalyan Ashram Shri Suresh Kulkarani, President, Nagar Parishad Solan Shri Pawan Gupta, former Chairperson Zila Parishad Ms. Sheela, Superintendent of Police Ms. Anjum Ara and prominent people of the district were present on the occasion.
