Hailing the significant welfare initiatives taken by the government headed by Mehbooba Mufti, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said it is the time for action and people have already started getting a sense of change on the ground. He said PDP has established clear political, economic and developmental priorities for Jammu and Kashmir.“PDP is committed to the welfare of the common men and women of Jammu and Kashmir and as a part of the coalition government in the State, the party is working tirelessly under the leadership of Mehbooba Mufti to implement its welfare agenda,” PDP General Secretary, Mohammad Sartaj Madni said while addressing a party workers convention at Achabal in Shangus constituency of district Anantnag.The convention was organized by the local PDP unit to felicitate Madni on being designated the party General Secretary.He said the PDP is committed to implement the vision of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed of ushering Jammu and Kashmir into an era of peace, stability and prosperity.“Our party has established clear political priorities and we would continue our struggle to seek resolution of the multiple problems faced by Jammu and Kashmir on political, economic, administrative and financial fronts,” he said and added that PDP set forth on a journey of hope in 1999 under the visionary leadership of Mufti Mohammad to change the course of Jammu and Kashmir for the better.
“The party established clear political priorities for itself and focused on them relentlessly to pull the State out of the morass of instabilities and uncertainties plaguing it for the past more than six decades,” he said and added that with the unflinching support of the people PDP has emerged as a strong regional political force within a short span of 16 years.Madni complimented the PDP cadres for effectively carrying the party’s pro-people agenda to the grassroots and working tirelessly towards implementation of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s political, economic and developmental vision for Jammu and Kashmir.Addressing the convention senior PDP leader Peerzada Mansoor Hussain while felicitating Madni on being nominated as the General Secretary of the party, expressed the hope that under his leadership and guidance the party would redouble its efforts to bring much-needed relief to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially the youth, who have huge expectations from the PDP.Mansoor said whether in or outside the power, PDP has stood by the people of the State and never compromised on their interests. He said, right from its inception, the party has been, whether in or out of power, advocating the cause of the people with unflinching consistency.Demanding focused development of the Shangus constituency, Mansoor said given the importance of the road communication in the development of any area, there is a pressing need for upgradation of Thajiwara-Chattergul road via Tailwani and Ranipora-Gopalpora-AhoPaysan road via wangam and Krad.PDP District President for Anantnag, Advocate Javed and Zonal President Shangus Ghulam Nabi Dar also addressed the convention.
