DDC participates in sanitation drive in Baramulla

A unique sanitation drive was carried out in Baramulla town today in which District Development Commissioner (DDC) Baramulla, Yasha Mudgal also participated.

SSP Baramulla and about 250 volunteers of District Police Baramulla also took part in the drive. The volunteers cleaned roads, foot paths, lanes and drains in the town.The DDC on the occasion highlighted the importance of the campaign and said that the objective of the campaign  cannot be obtained and will not succeed unless and until the students , teachers , transporters ,shopkeepers and the civil society join handas with the administration to make the drive  a successes.The DDC said that need of the hour is to create  awareness about the importance of cleanliness and sought cooperation of the civil society in this regard.On this occasion, the SSP Baramulla said that the Police Department has always been working with the administration to make such programmes a success. He appealed people not to throw polythene bags or any kind of garbage into river Jhelum or other water bodies.The Police before undertaking the sanitation drive had taken out a March from St. Joseph School to Chati Padshahi  Bridge with banners and hoardings conveying messages related to importance of Sanitation and maintenance of hygiene.
