Asserting that he will never allow the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his close relatives, the Majithias, to gang up and rob the Sikh culture and history by way of undermining the glorious heritage of Khalsa College Amritsar by privatising it, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today announced that in case the Badal government goes ahead with the proposal to set up a private university there despite so much opposition, the Congress government will rescind the (university) act and restore the original status of the college.“Let me make it clear that Khalsa college is not the personal property of Majithias as it belongs to the entire Sikh community spread all over the globe”, he asserted, while pointing out, that it had been built with support from the erstwhile princely states of Patiala, Kapurthala, Jind, Nabha and Faridkot. Besides, he added, the sentiments and emotions of the Sikh community were associated with the institution and he will not allow them to be hurt.Questioning the moral authority of the Majithias to privatise the glorious institution he said, just by grabbing the institution by infiltrating their yes-men into the Governing Council does not confer any moral right or authority on them to usurp it to make money. “The Majithias are trying to do to Khalsa College what the Badals did to the SGPC, which will not be allowed at any cost”, he remarked, while adding, if Majithias manage to get the act for the university passed in the Vidhan Sabha through Badals, he will ensure to repeal the act after Congress party forms the government in the state in 2017.
