Will not let parliament function till Uttarakhand issue settled: Jairam Ramesh

The Congress on Monday said it will not compromise on the Uttarakhand issue and will not let parliament function till the issue was settled.The issue of imposition of President's Rule in Uttarakhand is presently being heard by the Supreme Court which, on April 22, stayed till April 27 the Uttarakhand High Court order quashing President's Rule in the hill state."Uttarakhand is the most important issue. There will be no compromise on it," Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said.

"There is no prospect of parliament functioning till the Uttarakhand issue is settled," the Congress leader said.He said the Narendra Modi-led government did not want parliament to function.The parliament session began on Monday and will continue till May 13.Pandemonium and slogan shouting against the imposition of President's Rule in Uttarakhand marred the first day of the Lok Sabha on Monday as the opposition members flayed the government for its "autocratic" decision.Even the Rajya Sabha was repeatedly disrupted as protesting Congress members raised slogans against the Narendra Modi government.
