Punjab Chief Minister  Parkash Singh Badal today thanked the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and the Parliament of India for passing the Sikh Gurdwara (Amendment) Bill 2016.Interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of release of ‘Lok Geet’- the seventh musical album of Editor-in-Chief of Ajit group of newspapers Dr Barjinder Singh Hamdard here today at Lovely Professional University, the Chief Minister said that this was historic moment for the entire Sikh community as this bill has been passed by both the houses of Parliament. Mr. Badal said that he was thankful to the Union Government, the Parliament of India and every those person who was instrumental in the passage of this bill. “It is a indeed a matter of pride for all of us and we profusely thanks Modi led NDA government at the centre for this historic initiative” he added.

Replying to another query, the Chief Minister said that state government has made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth, hassle free and prompt procurement of wheat crop in mandis. He said that the concerned officers have been directed to issue payment to the farmers at earliest adding that the entire process was going on in a smooth manner. Mr. Badal said that SAD-BJP alliance government was committed for ensuring the well being of the farming community and every step was being taken to safeguard their interests.
