Workshop on “Model Rural Development” organized

A one-day workshop on "Strategy and Way ahead for Rural Development and Participatory Planning & Development" was organized at Udhampur today.The workshop was organized by district administration as a part of mass awakening campaign "Gram Uday se Bharat Uday" aimed at strengthening and revamping Village Economy at District headquarter Udhampur.During the workshop, discussion was held regarding learning points from  the 10-day campaign carried out across 204 panchayats under Gram Uday se Bharat Uday which included field camps on social justice, farmers welfare, awareness camps, Gram Sabhas, Social Audit, photo exhibitions, Village Planning & Development exercise, Launching of assets including bridges and water bodies, Gram Uday Express for awareness, cultural programmes and other activities. Departments formulated annual plan of action for development of village infrastructure during the field exercise.  

During the ten day campaign,  the district administration had formulated Draft Master Plans for all 204 village panchayats for infrastructure development indicating the available assets and future requirements. Details of land, water bodies, common assets, departmental infrastructure, institutions, community service centres, schools, anganwadi centers, ration depots have been documented and village registers indicating beneficiaries under various schemes have been designed which will help in effective implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes and regular development planning.Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary had earlier issued annual plan of action for carrying out yearlong events under Gram Uday se Bharat Uday which was earlier launched for 10 days, and will serve as guiding force for village development planning. 

Feedback was received from elected members of PRIs and field officials of various line departments for strengthening village level planning and participatory development.The workshop culminated with live address of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on National Panchayati Raj Diwas.All participants present in the workshop took pledge for maintaining social harmony, strengthening of Panchayati Raj, Rural Development and farmers progress. Subject matter specialists and panelists conducted discussions in the technical sessions. A large number of Sarpanches and Panches attended the workshop.Among others, CPO Rakesh Jamwal, ACD Joginder Singh Rai, PO DRDA Dr Jagdish Mehra, CMO Dr Chander Parkash, Assistant Director Planning, Mr. Uttam Singh and other officers of all departments attended the workshop.
