‘Let government stop making excuses, put process in motion’

Democratic Nationalist Party (DPN) president and former agriculture minister, Ghulam Hassam Mir Thursday questioned the delay caused in initiation of process to conduct Panchayat and Municipal polls.Talking to KNS, Mir said that during the Governor’s rule, NN Vohra directed the authorities to start the process for holding these polls.“In absence of elected bodies, I have quit apprehensions that these institutions would be run by civil administration, which is not interest of public at large,” he added.Mir told KNS that the successive regimes so far ignored and tried to end the basic democratic institutes.“I hope present regime would take immediate steps and would initiate process for holding these elections and will decide the election dates in next cabinet,” he said.“The government is making lame excuses to delay these polls. Let the government stop making excuses and put the process in motion,” he said. (KNS)
